1800 hrs the gambling meeting was called to order. Present were R. Dalbec, Rothecker, Novak, Rodgers, Anderson, Bjorkman. Bjorkman gave the gambling report for July. Budget for September. (Lg1004 available with minutes). Motion by Novak, 2nd by Anderson to accept the report, passed. Motion to pay St Paul tax, $50, and Cottage Grove tax, $1022.38 made and 2nd, passed. Discussion on DeMoris demands to increase rent payments by 8% prior to the lease expiring. After discussion it was decided not to increase our rent until after the lease is up. Requests for funding, Lake Owasso, $100, Minnesota Firefighters Memorial $1000, IGH Basketball Association $1000. Motion made to approve and send on to general membership meeting made, 2nd passed. Special Olympics Draft Party will be held Oct 21. Donation to be made of $5000 at September meeting. Bjorkman requested approval for $750 in Allied Charities Conference fees and expenses. Motion made to pay the expenses, 2nd passed. Bjorkman wants to pay for the storage sheds one year in advance, approved. No other business, adjourned at 1855 hrs.
General membership meeting called to order at 1904 hrs. Motion made to waive reading of last month's minutes, 2nd passed. Dalbec gave the treasurers report; currently we have in our general account. Outstanding bills include payment to web site, and expenses for the national conference. Motion to approve by Anderson, 2nd by Novak. Passed.Gambling manager Bjorkman gave the gambling report to the membership. Motion by Huffman, 2nd by Anderson to accept it. Passed. Motion made to approve the Lake Owasso, $100, 2nd passed. Motion to accept the Firefighters donation $1000, 2nd passed. Motion to accept the IGH Basketball Association donation $1000, 2nd passed. Bjorkman gave a summery of what occurred at the FOP National Convention in Rhode Island. Minnesota had a total of 28 delegates at the conference. It was held early August. All the national officers were re-elected at the conference with one contested seat for vice-president. The current vice-president won back the seat. Meetings were held Monday - Thursday of the conference. Minnesota delegation donated $1000 to the new national law enforcement museum which will be located in Washington DC. Old Business. Dan Collins had volunteered to head the next Lodge Golf Tournament.
New Business, a motion made to sponsor a hole at the upcoming Chedderhead Golf Tournament in Red Wing. Cost, $100. 2nd, passed. Sickness/distress. Jay Christensen of the Rochester Lodge 5 was hospitalized after a car accident. $50 memorial to be sent to him. Next meeting will be September 10, at So St Paul VFW.
