Minnesota FOP Lodge 1 Meeting

The gambling meeting was called to order by J. Rothicker. Present were Dalbec, Bjorkman, Lutchen, Huffman, Rodgers, Anderson and Radke. Lutchen gave the report for November.. Budget for January was presented. Motion made by Novak to accept the report and the budget, 2nd by Dalbec. Passed. Some discussion concerning employee issues were conducted. Requests for funding. Rothicker, $3,500 for MDA event. Radke, $1500 for a Cops and Kids event sponsored by St Paul PD. To provide presents to children who would spend Christmas in a local hospital. Radke stated that this would be an annual event. Special Olympics, $5000, Dalbec, $500 for a summer camp outing for handicap children out of the Milwaukee School District. Bjorkman, $1200 for U.C. Palsy golf tournament to be a sponsor. Motion made to accept the requests with the exception of Bjorkmans; this would be tabled to next meeting for approval in January 02. Discussion of the upcoming Polar Bear Plunge. The entry fee for 25 people to attend would be paid through gambling. This is above the $5000 already committed to Special Olympics. Meeting was adjourned at 1855 hrs.
President Bjorkman called general membership meeting to order at 1905 hours. Motion made by Lutchen to waive the Secretaries reading of the minutes.2nd by Novak, passed. (The minutes were available to members to view.) Dalbec gave the Treasurers report. A copy of the bank statement was made available to the members. Motion made to accept the report, 2nd passed. No report from the golf committee. Lutchen gave the gambling report and the budget request. Motion made by Huffman, 2nd by Anderson to accept the report and budget. Passed. Motion made to accept the funding requests as presented by the gambling committee. 2nd, passed. Radke reported that the Guns and Hoses event raised over $160,000 for the New York Police and Fire Department 9-11 victims. Bjorkman presented some concerns to the members over the current handling of the Polar Bear Plunge event by Special Olympics. We will be in further contact with them about our concerns. Anderson requested that our lodge support Colleen Somby in her efforts to secure a skills scholarship from the State Lodge. Members agreed that our lodge show that support. Next meeting dates will be January 9, SSP VFW, February 13, Alary`s, March 13, O`Garas. Motion made to adjourn the meeting, 2nd passed.
