Minnesota FOP lodge 1 meeting

At 1800 hours the gambling meeting was called to order by President Rothecker. Gambling manager D. Bjorkman gave his report for December. Motion made to accept the report, 2nd passed. Motion made to pay the following bills, City of St Paul license renewal, $66, City of St Paul gambling tax $59.10, City of Cottage Grove 10% tax $539.08, and ELAN credit card payment. Motion was 2nd and passed. Requests for funding; Rothecker for Boy Scouts of America troop 279 for $1000, and Bjorkman for radio station KBEM non profit radio for $1000. The radio station will play 10 spots promoting the FOP. Motion made to approve the request and send them on to the general membership meeting, 2nd passed. (lg1004 available for review).


1900 hrs the general membership meeting was called to order. Motion made to waive reading of last months minutes, 2nd passed. R. Dalbec gave the treasurers report. We have in our general account. The cost of the Law Enforcement Polar Bear Plunge will bring our account down a few hundred dollars when all the bills come in. The check book and the last bank statement were available for review. Motion made to accept the report, 2nd passed. New business, none. Old business. Bjorkman spoke to the group on the upcoming State Lodge board meeting. Cheryl Bjorkman updated us on the results of the LE Polar Bear Plunge which was held at White Bear Lake January 8th. There was 243 persons who took the plunge and approximately $54,000 was raised for Special Olympics. There were 14 FOP members who took the plunge. Some discussion concerning the inadequate public address system which was used and ways to update it. Golf, the Lawmen are still on board with us and will again work to provide door prizes for the event. There was discussion on moving it to another location this year but it was determined it is to late for that. It will still be held at Oak Glen in Stillwater MN. Announcements will be sent out shortly for it. There is currently openings for Sgt at Arms and 2nd VP for our lodge. 2nd VP position went to Rick Novak, Sgt at Arms went to Jeremy Ellison. Thanks to both for their participation in their lodge. With no further business, motion to adjourn was made and 2nd. Next meeting is set for February 9, 2005 at O'Gara's in St Paul.
