Minnesota FOP Lodge #1

Welcome to the Fraternal Order of Police Minnesota Lodge #1!

Welcome to the Fraternal Order Police and Lodge 1. The FOP is the largest law enforcement organization in the country, perhaps the world, with over 300,000 members. The organization is structured with members joining a local Lodge under a State Lodge, which is in turn subordinate to the National Lodge. The FOP in Minnesota is purely fraternal. That means we don't get into politics at the local or State level. Although, the FOP at the National level is very active in politics have pursued this in the interest of police officers nation wide. If you wish to see what is going on at the National level, go to www.GrandLodgeFOP.org, and check them out.

Currently Lodge 1 is the largest of the 18 Lodges in the State. That is correct. There are currently 18 lodges with approximately 2,000 members, and that number goes up every year. And just think, Lodge 1 started it all. Currently Lodge 1 has over 250 members. I would like to see this Lodge get over the 300 member mark in the next year or so. So if you have thought about it, are thinking about it or have just found us, why don't you come and see what we are about. Our monthly meetings are posted on our website well in advance so you can make plans/arrangements to attend.

In 1998, Lodge 1 became active in Charitable Gambling. In the seven years we have been involved in this Lodge 1 has given out over half a million dollars to local charities, and fellow officers who have fallen on hard times. Our two primary charities that we sponsor are LEMA and the Special Olympics. We have also helped out local departments in obtaining equipment/training and other items that they are unable to purchase due to budget cuts.

Lodge 1 has sponsored many social events for officers and their families. These have included a booya, summer BBQs, family day with the St. Paul Saints, and an annual golf tournament. We are always looking for new ideas on how to keep people active and to have a good time. If you have any ideas drop us a line.

If you know of anyone who is not a member, who has thought about becoming a member or just recently became an officer or if you have any question please feel free to contact me or any other of the Lodge officers. I hope to see many new members and hope that the current members stay active.

Fraternally yours,

Jeff Rothecker
President
