Georges Restaurant, St Paul
At 1804 hours the regular monthly meeting of Lodge 1 gambling board was called
to order by President Rothecker. Gambling manager Don Bjorkman gave his report
for August, 2007. A motion was made to approve the report and send on to general
membership meeting, 2nd passed. Bjorkman then gave his budget proposal for October.
(lg1004 available for review). A motion was made to approve the budget and send
it on to the general membership meeting, 2nd passed. A motion was made to approve
paying the St Paul city fee of $32.40, 2nd passed. Request for funding, none.
With no further business a motion was made to adjourn the meeting, 2nd passed.
1856 hours the general membership meeting was called to order by President Rothecker.
Roll call of officers, all officers were present. Also in attendance was State
Lodge President Gary Cayo.
Secretary's report, a motion was made to waive reading of last months minutes,
2nd passed.
Treasurers report, Dalbec advised that we have in our account. Two thirds of
that is money related to golf tournament. A motion was made to accept the report,
2nd passed. Dues notices are to go out this month.
Gambling report, Don Bjorkman gave his report to the general membership. A motion
was made to accept the report, 2nd passed. He also presented the annual report
to the gambling control board for fiscal year 2007. Members reviewed the report
and a motion was made to approve it, 2nd passed. The budget was presented to
the members and a motion was made to approve it, 2nd passed.
Merchandise, nothing new to report, Rothecker will try to have a area on our
website set up to showcase the merchandise and make it available for sale. (www.mnfop1.org).
Pancake breakfast fundraiser, VP Sloan will stop by the IGH Applebee's to see
when we can have a fundraiser there.
Special Olympics/Polar Bear Plunge, Bill Fish and Chad from Special Olympics
are in attendance at this meeting to discuss the issue of marketing the plunge.
The concern as expressed by President Rothecker to Special Olympics is the removal
of Law Enforcement from the logo. It had been expressed by some in Special Olympics
that having Law Enforcement in the logo would be a hindrance in recruiting people
to participate in the plunge. There was discussion concerning this matter and
Bill Fish said that Law Enforcement would be part of the logo in the future.
This matter is one that could effect future funding through Lodge 1 to the Polar
Bear Plunge . The plunge had been started in this state through lodge 1 and
Dave Mars (ST Paul retired).
National Conference report, Frank Gale is the new National 2nd VP, Tim Downs
is the new Sgt At Arms, and the national lodge will be increasing per capita
dues to $9.50 a year for each member. The 2011 conference will be held in Salt
Lake City.
Sgt Vick Memorial Golf Tournament, Lawmen group has decided not to participate
in the golf tournament in 2008. We are in need of more hole sponsorships if
anyone has any interest in helping out contact Jeff Rothecker.
New business, with the National increasing dues for the per capita payment there
was discussion on setting our dues to compensate for this. There was discussion
among the members concerning the best way to handle this. A motion was made
to increase our Lodges dues from $20 to $25 dollars a year. A 2nd was made to
the motion and it passed.
Election of officers, up for election were President, 2nd VP, Sgt at Arms. A
motion was made for a white ballot for President, 2nd passed. Jeff Rothecker
will remain in that position. A motion was made for a white ballot for 2nd VP,
2nd passed. Rick Novak will remain in that position. Sheryl Bjorkman was nominated
for the position of Sgt at Arms, Jeremy Ellison withdrew his name for that position.
Sheryl was then elected to that position. Congratulations to all and thanks
for their service to the lodge.
A new lodge was chartered in Roseau, Lodge 22. They chartered with 22 members
and are now up to 50 members with Canadian officers joining it also.

Motion was made to adjourn until October 10 and meeting at Georges Restaurant,
1800 hours, 2nd passed.
